February 18, 2008 Monday, at 0700, Fr. Tom Mulcrone will be under the knife at Northwestern Hospital for repair of an aortic aneurism.  Remember him in your thoughts and prayers.  He thinks that he will come home on Friday.     You Can Send GET WELL CARDS to 6002 W. Berteau Ave. Chicago, 60634.

To all Fr. Tom's friends,
At 2:30 PM today Fr. Tom is continuing  to recover well from his surgery yesterday. The doctors are pleased by his present condition. Fr. Tom will continue to be in the hospital for the near future.  He appreciates all the prayers and asks for continued prayers. His anticipated recovery will be 2-3 months.

To Fr. Tom's friends:
I spoke with Tom this evening and he is very grateful for all your concern and prayers. He is recovering well, following doctor's orders and impressing the staff with his rehab, however, he gets very tired and realizes he needs a lot of sleep - something he is not use to doing.

Since he is doing so well he does not feel there is a need for more updates. When he leaves the hospital he will still need to do the rehab and sleep. He is asking his friends to continue to respect his need for recovery time. Several people have asked what they can do - what can they send, etc. Here is a solution that will be good for a lot of reasons. Tom does not need anything and actually will have enough to do to take care of himself. In lieu of flowers, plants or other gifts, you can send a donation to the Sisters who staff St. Mary of Providence, the school for disabled girls where Tom is a chaplain for the girls and the Sisters. They will be helping him throughout his recovery.

I thought I'd give you a final update on my recovery.
I've started cardiac rehab and have gone back to "work" but have not jumped in totally.  I'm feeling pretty good but stamina is still an issue.  Even at this point, I know that I have to listen to my body...actually, I've grown to enjoy the art of napping!

Thank you for all your cards, prayers and words of good cheer.  They helped a great deal.
                                                                Blessings,
                                                                    Tom

Greg is presently the military spokesperson for The Chicago Fire Department's Military Members. If you wish to send Greg a letter or package, perhaps something to remind him of home. I think this would boost his spirits, just by letting him know that we support him and that we are always be grateful for his efforts. It is a great way to let him know that we are still thinking of him, I am sure that it would mean a lot to him. If you agree, here is Greg's Military Mailing Address:
